Vinyes Altes
Priorat
The Castillo-Serrano family’s meticulous care and respect for their vineyards is evidenced by their use of only organic fertilizers and pesticides, and by their strict selection process during harvest. Their 100-year-old vines, which produce the Vinyes Altes wine, are exemplary specimens of Priorat old vines. Growing directly out of slate rock, or “llicorella,” the vines have an extremely low average production.
The 2003 Clos Dominic Vinyes Altes is a blend of 75% Carinena, and 25% Garnacha. The wine was aged for 16 months in 100% new French oak barrels; only 50 cases were produced.
