Vinyes Baixes 2003
Priorat
The Castillo-Serrano family’s meticulous care and respect for their vineyards is evidenced by their use of only organic fertilizers and pesticides, and by their strict selection process during harvest. The Clos Dominic Vinyes Baixes vineyard is located at the foot of the renowned Vinyes Altes property, one of the oldest vineyards in the Priorat region. The Vinyes Baixes Vineyard is comprised of both 100-year-old head-pruned vines and 20-year-old trellised vines.
The 2003 Clos Dominc Vinyes Baixes is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Picapoll Negre, Cariñena and Garnacha. After a long maceration of 28 days (for all varieties except the Merlot, which requires a shorter maceration time), the wine was lightly pressed and then aged for 12 months in first and second year French oak barrels. This wine has a limited production of just over 100 cases.
